Support the American Friends of the Louvre

The
main purpose of the American Friends of the Louvre is to establish closer ties
between the Louvre Museum and the American public (more than one third of the
foreign visitors), to raise awareness and financial support of the Louvre in
the United States, and to serve as the Museum's representative in America.The American Friends of the Louvre is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt
public charity described within IRC section 501(c)(3). Contributions are tax
deductible to the fullest extent permitted by US law. All
Corporate Members,
Corporate Founders and
Individual Members of
the American Friends of the Louvre will benefit from various privileges,
including free and privileged access to the permanent collections and
temporary exhibitions, complimentary gifts, discount on publications and
merchandise, and invitations to special opening events.
The American Friends of the Louvre will be organized around a Board of
Directors, a Board of Benefactors, a circle of Corporate Members, and specific
Committees. Mr. Christopher Forbes has been Chairman of the AFL since April
2003.
The Mission of the American Friends of the Louvre:1- to promote
exchanges between the Louvre and American institutions through the development
of cultural activities in the United States, such as thematic exhibitions,
professional and scientific exchanges, and educational programs
(The Louvre Leonardo School Exchange Program).
2- to participate in the financing of projects for the Louvre such as
restorations, new displays of collections, scientific and educational
programs.3 - to support the Louvre in its efforts to improve the visiting
conditions and the educational tools for foreign public, particularly
English-speaking visitors: development of English publications, translation of
the labels and the database, and launching of the new bilingual website.
