The photos were in an album which was recovered from a skip. They chart Churchill's time in Lord Asquith's Liberal Government, recording events from 1908 to 1915, and belonged to the wife of a former Daily Telegraph journalist in Essex. Many of them have not been published for more than 90 years. One of Diana's letters - sold for £3,300 - tells of her reaction to former Army Major James Hewitt's public revelation of their affair.
