INTERVIEWS. Cont'd.

Tête-à-tête with Lyne Tremblay

MH: And what you notice first about people?
Lyne: The smile in their eyes, their aura.
MH: What is the big difference between an American cabaret singer, a Canadian Cabaret singer and an authentic Parisian cabaret singer?
Lyne: I think they all  authentic if they're not trying to copy each other. Cabaret is another one of those terms for the purists.
MH: What's next on your agenda? Any tour to France, the US?
Lyne: "First we'll take Manhattan, ....then we'll take Berlin". We're planning to tour France but first Canada.
MH: The two most beautiful lines of a song you ever sang or heard?
Lyne: "Je t'aime" "Je t'aime aussi"
MH: How do you bring life and all its emotions to stage when you perform?
Lyne: By leaving out the word 'all'. I try to be in the present, choose images then see if I can surprise myself.
MH: Are you fun? What do you do for fun?

"I believe there are two things that live on. Family and art."-Tremblay

Lyne: For fun, I like to dance and cook with my family. We have parties in the kitchen. It's a great place to bring us together.
MH: What was the best compliments you have ever received?
Lyne: "Lyne, you're a good mother." My two girls are very important to me.
MH: Any regrets in life?
Lyne: No regrets...a few misgivings...I try to look forward.
MH: Do you believe in immortality? What is immortality to you?
Lyne: I believe there are two things that live on. Family and art. I am a Catholic so I believe in a life after death but I don't know if I'd call it immortality.
MH: Do you care what people say about you?
Lyne: It depends on who says it. Reputation is important to me but I won't be slave to opinion.
MH: You have a lot of class. You are a refined lady. Does this class or your elegance alienates middle class people who attend your performances?
Lyne: No I don't think  so. I'm just as comfortable in a bar as a yachtclub.
