WORLDWIDE LEARNING AND STUDYING: PERFORMING ARTS

Bedford has a long-established reputation for excellence in music, drama and art. The arts are an integral part of daily life here and the boys need little encouragement to become actively involved. Bedford has one of the largest Music Departments in the country and a high proportion of students learn to play one or more instruments. Every year, there is a full and active programme of music concerts culminating in a series of summer concerts at the end of the academic year.

A vibrant community of talented people who thrive in a rich cultural atmosphere ...Students come to study with mentors who inspire them, to perform the best of the literature and to associate with new and old friends who understand "what makes them tick." Our international faculty members and conductors come to collaborate with students who are refining their skills for a lifetime in the arts. Dedicated teachers and consummate professionals, they enjoy working with young musicians, actors and dancers in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Counselors come to share their knowledge and talents, to perform alongside students and faculty, to contribute fresh ideas from their studies at universities and conservatories around the world, and to provide supervision for the residential community.

The ASL development program strengthens the School overall and reinforces the School's mission and vision. Communications, publications, alumni relations, parent relations, annual giving and capital giving are all part of our development program.Development programs are essential to the health and growth of independent schools like ASL, colleges and universities, where the cost of a quality education cannot be met through tuition alone. Our success is due to the wonderful people that make up the ASL community worldwide. Welcome to the American School in London. We are a coeducational, independent school of over 1,200 international students, in Kindergarten 1 through Grade 12. A rigorous, innovative college-preparatory American curriculum, small classes, close student-teacher relationships, experiential learning that takes advantage of our unique location, and an extensive extra-curricular program characterize our educational philosophy.
