Rupert, the nice All-Star, gets bonus

Being the nice guy in reality TV has finally paid off.More than 38 million people voted and Rupert Boneham took away the bonus $1 million US on last night's special Survivor: America's Tribal Council. While Rupert, who smiled and hugged his wife and young daughter after it was announced he got the most votes, was the most popular player from Survivor: All-Stars, winner Amber Brkich and runner-up (not to mention new fiance) Rob Mariano have become the toast of talk shows and entertainment magazines."The fact I was on Letterman, then two seconds later on The View, then Regis was very overwhelming, but a blast," said Amber who, along with Rob is on the cover of People, Entertainment Weekly and Us magazines this week.If that's not enough, the pair has been approached to have their pending nuptials exploited . . . er . . . um . . . broadcast on TV, a la The Bachelorette's Trista and Ryan."If the price is right," said Rob, who's obviously no dummy."As odd as it sounds, I am an ordained mister," said host Jeff Probst. "We could do it right now and get it over with."Geez, maybe he could have helped out more on Sunday and performed an exorcism on the wigged-out Jerri Manthey, who stormed off the show when the crowd booed her."I've already scoped out the nearest exit just in case," said Jerri as she sat on the stage with the other 17 All-Stars.That issue and a few others aside, Probst announced that Big Tom Buchanan, Rob Mariano, Colby Donaldson and Rupert were the four finalists for the cash.As well he divulged the earth-shattering results of goofy online polls. It seems America thinks Amber and Colby are the hottest Survivors and Johnny Fairplay from Survivor: Pearl Islands was the best villain. Oh, yeah, and if you're already jonesing for Survivor 9, you'll be happy to hear it will air in September and take place in the South Pacific's Vanuatu Islands.-Danna Gee
