York started his musical career playing keyboards in the early 80s boy-band Roman Holliday. Through the rest of the 80s and 90s,  he successfully combined working in the pop industry as a session musician and MD for artists as diverse as Ronny Jordan, Seal, Shirley Bassey and Lily Savage with a jazz career. For the last few years he has worked as a media composer with many credits in TV, radio and commercials. Present projects include writing music for a drama series for BBC1, production of Mari Wilson new album and consultancy work for Walt Disney. 1Saturday May 29th at  The Vortex Jazz Club, Stoke Newington Church Street, 0207 254 6516.  Ms Barb Jungr  has a sumptuous voice and a thoroughly original take on both jazz and other classic songs. The room has a capacity of 400,  the building's remarkable acoustic has ensured its reputation as one of this country's finest concert venues.  Set in Pittville Park, the Pump Room looks out over the lake and magnificent gardens that once formed the centrepiece of the Pittville Estate.
