REBECCA SPENCER Where Class, Beauty and Talent Blend Together to create the Elixir of Cabaret. Female Singer of the month

SHE ELEVATED THE AMERICAN CABARET TO THE HIGHEST INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
Few
American chanteuses captured the essence of the authentic cabaret repertoire
and psyche. And a fewer number made their mark on the European landscape of
international cabaret. Some have visited Britain and left a legacy behind
them. Memorable moments and delightful performances were given by Anna
Bergman, Rita Moreno, Julie Wilson, the great Barbara Cook, Anne Kerry Ford
and Lorna Dallas. Cabaret is a delicate "patrimoine" as correctly described by
Parisians. Ute Lemper cemented the foundation of excellence in cabaret
performance and quality excellence. Rebecca Spencer reflects that excellence.
Today, we add the name of Rebecca Spencer to the roster of outstanding
performers/singers. Although, she is relatively a new comer to the cabaret art
platform, Ms. Spencer succeeded in establishing herself as a most talented and
striking star vedette. Although, she is traditional in the form, shape and
selection of her repertoire, Ms. Spencer managed to enlarge and innovate the
perimeter of illustrative cabaret for she added class, finesse and lyrical
interpretational intimacy to the ambiance of traditional cabaret. In that
context, Ms. Spencer has earned our admiration and respect. Indeed, she is a
world-class artist. Her recent CD "Wide Awake and Dreaming" redefined
romanticism, vocal virtuosity and human warmth for the world of contemporary
cabaret. It was a pure delight and a well deserved appreciation to select Diva
Rebecca Spencer as the Monthly Herald's female singer for the month of March
2004.
