lisarichard: the leading guru of a new american cabaret formula, perhaps, a pioneering theatrical movement?!

By Maximillien de Lafayette

LONDON- Lisa Richard: A new refreshing product and  a pulverizing breed leader  of creative singers and contempo theatrical performers in the United States. She sings the old  tunes but resuscitates them. She delivers new material but preserves and passes on the torch of solid  conservational musical  excellence and revered traditional virtuosity. She lives in a crazy American city, New York, where else?  But, she reaches out to universalism in music and esthetic autonomy. Her style appeals to multi-ethnic audiences and groups. I did not say "public", for Lisa Richard is an integrated part of  a world public. Thus, appealing to New Yorkers,  conservatives under the Hollywood Symphony Bowl pillars, innovative and ultra modern artists and those who are in the making. Lisa Richard is powerful, yet extremely hilarious , tender and sweet on the inside. Sharp intelligence, productive/creative spontaneity, original quasi intimate-quasi sarcastic talent  nourished with  guts forge the trilogy of the persona of this shining young and overwhelmingly talented Diva.

Lisa RichardLisa Richard is quite different from the majority of the  leading  cabaret artistes and musical performers, for she combines and blends the innocent and the risqué, the traditional and the avant-garde, the intimate and the  humouristic,  the dramatic human episodes and sequences of rays of hopes, the daily troubles of a banal life and dreams of a naive girl with great aspirations....She blends them all...she  crafts them all... and delivers them to us as a captivating melodic storyteller who cares, and who from time to time brings us closer to the alarming reality of life and some other time, distant us from worries and fear. This woman could be a magician and her voice a healing power. Lisa Richard is redefining modern cabaret. Strangely enough,  Not  very long time ago, Lisa Richard was a different person. A few years ago, Lisa was Toshiba's Vice President of Strategic Planning. She abandoned the corporate world. She dumped the executive desk and embarked on a new career: SINGING! She began her new artistic "adventure"  as a  solo singer in clubs in Los Angeles, California. Later, to   move on to the world of musicals, theater,  and Broadway where she appeared  in "Inside Out" (Robby Award), The 1940's "Radio Hour" (Robby nomination), "Little Shop of Horrors", "Grease", "Anything Goes", "Evita", "Damn Yankees", and currently on a national tour with the Broadway  original production production of "Mamma Mia". Her approach to  the CDs music market  is "singular" yet, could deviate her talents from "mainstream success." But Lisa is on the level. She is daring, bright, hilarious, resourceful, visionary, delightful rebel, a loving person...and don't mess up with her. One question is perturbing me :" Could or would the immense creative talent of this young and bright diva compete with an alarmingly deviated tastes and preferences in music and ever-expanding market geared toward audiences who are having problems and hard time  discerning between real music and what "make them high"? That's is the question! Nevertheless, Lisa Richard's prominent and warm presence on stage, on CDs labels and in our hearts is assured. It is up to her to take on the world of music, for her talents and persona are larger than life!
